An annual networking event for doctoral students and prospective doctoral students in statistics and related fields - register now!

FYSW is an annual networking event for doctoral students and prospective doctoral students in statistics and related fields. The Finnish Statistical Society and The Finnish Society of Biostatistics organize the workshop, and this year, the event will take place in Aalto University, Espoo.

 

The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for academically young statisticians to present their results and meet their peers. In this event, all the speakers are doctoral students or prospective doctoral students from different Finnish universities. All the registered participants are guaranteed an opportunity to present their work in the workshop. Furthermore, this workshop is a fantastic environment to practice public speaking for future conferences. Note that no prior publications or scientific results are required to attend this workshop. We encourage fresh doctoral students to present ideas or general outlines of their planned dissertations.

 

The workshop is held in Aalto University, Undergraduate Center (the address is Otakaari 1), lecture hall M3 (official name of the lecture hall is M234), on Tuesday November 12th. The presentations are between 12:15 and 16:00, after which there will be some social activity and food for the attendees. Participation is free of charge.

 

Please register to the workshop by sending an e-mail to jaakko.pere@aalto.fi with “FYSW2024” as the subject of the e-mail at latest on Tuesday 29th of October. Please state your name, whether you wish to give a presentation, the title of your presentation, and your current academic affiliation and position. Additionally, please specify if you will join the social activity, and if you do, state if you have any allergies or special diet requirements. For example, the below template can be used to give all the required information.
